When Clay Prints Meet Art Quilts

I have thought a lot about where my art quilts and my clay prints might intersect and this is the first piece that I feel confident about showing you. The clay prints in this work were not fused, but sewn onto hand dyed cotton. Some of the woven ends are not sewn down tight, but are allowed to curl. Also woven in are lengths of sari silk yarn. And all homage to Sonji, little bundles pull the colors together. There is batting and the same hand dyed fabric on the back, with an escape hatch and rod pocket. The machine quilting follows the stripes in the fabric, and the gold fringe on the bottom is a kind of exclamation point. Finished size is 15x22.

Nice colors, and I particularly like the background composition. I think it would have been just as nice without any bundles or fringe, but then I am kind of a minimalist at heart.
Very nice, and don't be so shy next time! Jen

Nice sock!

Well, I hear you about the weight loss thing. I am trying not to focus on the whole amount, but just 20lbs at a time. Just too overwhelming for me otherwise.

Over on "Quilter's Lounge" (link in my sidebar) there are quite a few working on weight loss. If you visit the main site, there are lots of helpful and encouraging tips. Jen
