SPEND A WEEK WITH MARILYN HUGHEY PHILLIS & CHERYL RYAN HARSHMAN AS YOUR GUIDES INTO
CREATIVE REALMS
March 18-21, 2010
Sandscrest Conference & Retreat Center, Wheeling
Marilyn Hughey Phillis
This workshop will emphasize the creative nature that is a natural part of each being. In the very act of creating there develops a unique expressive image which creates the individual artistic statement. This can be a sacred and very personal act for each artist. That inner spiritual nature within each artist must be expressed in its truest form to create through design and expressive energy a work that has impact and also reaches the heart.
In the beautiful settings of trees and hills of Sandscrest, we can gather informally to search for nature's and our own message in our work. Some exercises will be suggested, but you are free to pursue your own search during the week. We shall seek to become better visual communicators through our paint, brushes, papers, and sharing of dreams and ideas. Marilyn will share two different approaches to your personal statement: collage making using painted materials to create representational and abstract works plus explorations of fluid acrylic paint and/or watercolor in ways of expressing nature's beauty. All levels of experience accepted. A materials list will be sent on receipt of registration
Marilyn Phillis has taught workshops across the nation for the last 35 years and is recognized as a teacher who nurtures and challenges her students through helping them to find their own personal statements. The inner spiritual creative element is a long cherished potential she finds as a hidden way of expression among many students and tries to help develop. Elected member of American Watercolor Society, AWS, and National Watercolor Society, NWS, Author of WATERMEDIA TECHNIQUES FOR RELEASING THE CREATIVE SPIRIT. In 2000, she was elected to two Halls of Fame: The Wheeling, WV Hall of Fame and the Kent, Ohio Hall of Fame.
