Student Fusing

This is what happens when one shares the secrets of fusing quilts with a young artist! Mary, a talented undergraduate, is mentoring with me in fiber arts Look what she has done with one piece of fabric and some shears. She has thought about lining up all those little bubbles that appear thru out the fabric to create the feeling of energy and power around this radiant red/warm woman. Then she uses the blues and greens, the cools, and cuts them into grasses, maybe seaweed to frame her.

This piece is about 15x22 and is fused to the batting. Mary checked out a few embroidery books last night to learn how to use some hand stitches on this before she puts on the back panel and quilts it.

Stunning! Mary, I'm so proud to know you. You are far better than your mentor.
