Icon Making

These are mixed media icons made with layers of lace, trims, cheesecloth, gesso, and acrylics. Lots of layers, lots of texture, and lots of fun to make. The purple icon is framed in a shadow box and this bottom one is mounted on a board painted black (much cheaper). I have been studying Russian icons and their religious meanings. I am interested, not so much in religious meaning for these humble pieces, but as focal points for contemplation and introspection.
