So here is Represent Pittsburgh--at last! Gathered together at Joseph-Beth's Booksellers in Pittsburgh's Southside neighborhood, were knitters from a 200 mile radius, I'm guessing.
Christy and Cathy, her mother-in-law, from western NY state thought that while Toronto might be closer to catch the Yarn Harlot, Pgh was a more convenient choice for their schedule. The Needletart and her husband were staying in the same B&B as the Harlot (be still my heart!!). They drove from Altoona to make a weekend of the event. I was there from WV, my 3rd trip to the Burgh in four days. And there's no telling where all the other knitting mavens hailed from.
It was great to meet these women, we were instant friends--sharing life
stories, swapping knitting and yarn tips, sharing blogs, internet sites, and
LYS locations. Where else can you go, who else can you be thrown
together with in this wide, wild world and be instantly accepted,
acknowledged, and loved just for being you. Mr. Rogers Neighborhood
(another Pittsburgh locality) is alive and well in the knitting community.
We waited, watched all the seats fill, and saw knitters hanging over the
second floor banisters to get a glimpse, to hear the words of the Yarn Harlot.
Stephanie was great. The Represent hats were there.
There was love and yarn everywhere.
