I am ready and heading out to the YarnHarlot's Represent Pittsburgh!
Have sock. check
Have shades. check
Have big bag, no the purse, not me! check
Have camera. check Have batteries. check
And, yes, I have $$ and gas in the tank.
Ready to roll.
The Yarn Harlot will be in Pittsburgh peddling her new book, and I aim to be there!
The book tour started in NYC at Strawberry Fields and sounded like such great fun as well as an emotional empowering of all knitters. I need a dose of both and a Friday nite in the 'Burgh will really fan my flames.
Ought to be a mob scene, like a rock n roll celebrity crowd at a bookstore! All these women(and a few courageous guys) with pointy sticks ought to scare the collegiate drinking crowd on Carson Street but good. (hmm, note to self, check the tattoo parlors for knitting images.)
Stephanie visited the 'Burgh about two years ago and I made the trip expecting the usual turnout for a small book signing, believe me I know about small book signings from my other, non-fiber, b&w life. I was shocked, really bowled over, by the 300+ you couldn't get a foot in the door crowd that was there to see the Harlot and hear her edifying tales.
Well, tonite, I'll be ready, arriving early, casing the joint, finding a seat, and chatting up all the other Harlot fans. These knitters are really amazing people! So die-hard. So creative. So kind. And so manic about all things knitting! I live in the Muggle world and most there don't know that I'm a Yarn-Harlette. Only careful observation would show the Muggles my handknit superwash sox under the Crocs on my feet. But Muggles don't look at feet.
I am going to the 'Burgh tonite to be with my people, to climb the knitted mountain with them, and see a glimpse of the promised woolly land on the other side. Glory be to the Wool.

It was nice to meet you. You need to brag about the children's books. Can't wait to see them.
