I spent a terrific weekend with Mrs. Mel and a baker's dozen or so of the kindest, most talented women you could ever hope to meet.

Our retreat was at the Frederick Talbott B&B
in Fishers, IN. I arrived just before the lightning & thunder and a rootin' tootin' Indiana thunderstorm. I knew it was a good omen. All the stagnant air was cleaned and cleared away leaving the atmosphere crisp and ready for our creative energies and color work. The facilities at the B&B were cozy & clean. Huge bedrooms & baths, clean sheets & firm mattresses. And the food--delicious and beautifully served. Best of all was that I was not doing the cooking, cleaning, nor laundry and so everything was all the better for that.
The topic of our retreat was Design Small for Large Works.
And that was just what I needed. I really feel that I need help thinking about design elements and how to use them in planning an art quilt. I came home with several new ideas as well as a good quilt top.
