My friend Nancy Tirone visited me at the library this evening to go blogging. As we blogged, I borrowed (ok, stole) these images so that I could brag on her. Nancy's a faculty member at the college where I work; she's a great teacher and an inspiring artist. Her work is spontaneous and textural and very beautiful. I hope someday my fusing might approach her work which I think is very similar to art quilts. This is a new piece entitled "Once Upon a Time in Your Wildest Dreams." It's collage and oil stick. "I like this piece especially," she said, "bcause of its subtlety. I like for my work to pull the viewer in closer. 'Hmmm, what's that fan doing in the upper right hand corner? What do these words say?' and then there is an 'aha!' when they see the piece come together."
What do you think, bloggers, is this the next piece for purchase by the Friends of the Library?
